Recreation
SE Trust’s mission of public recreation connects people to natural land for the benefit of both. As a public charity it is a priority of SE Trust that public use always be free at our sites. There is a balance when combining public recreation with conservation and environmental stewardship. SE Trust’s recreational focus is on passive recreation activities such as bird watching, hiking, mountain biking, disc golf, geo-caching, and the quiet enjoyment of nature. We designate our sites as either nature preserves or nature parks depending on which part of our mission has the most impact on the site.
These are examples of each:
- Talking Rock Nature Park is biased to recreation: Talking Rock Nature Preserve | Facebook
- Burke County Nature Preserve is biased to environmental stewardship: Burke County Nature Preserve property page
- Bald Mtn Creek Nature Preserve has both robust environmental stewardship and recreation projects: Bald Mountain Creek Nature Preserve | Facebook
