We recently worked together with Chattahoochee Riverkeeper, Osprey Initiative and Google to install a trash trap in Anneewakee Creek. Trash is a major problem for our waterways and this innovative solution is helping stop trash in its tracks.
Anneewakee Creek rises to the south of Douglasville, Georgia and runs southeastward to join the Chattahoochee River at a point a little downstream and opposite the site of the old town of Campbellton.

This 730 acre property is just north of Asheville, North Carolina and shares a border with Pisgah National Forest. And guess what? It's permanently protected.
And that means a lot to all of us - but, especially to the Golden-winged Warbler. This pretty little songbird has witnessed a shocking population decline in the last 50 years. In fact, they are one of the smallest bird populations not on an endangered species list. A long-distance migrant, this property is perfectly situated in its migrant corridor. You can learn more about them at this link.
At STPAL, we're working with the Audubon Society and the USDA to ensure our property is a safe, protected and friendly home for years to come. CC BY-SA 3.0 / File:LongleafPine.jpg /Created: 27 June 2010 Burke County Nature Preserve
This 354 acre property is just south of Augusta, Georgia. The land was largely neglected until STPAL acquired it in 2016. This property is an intensive rehabilitation process and we are currently prepping 50 acres to plant 50,000 longleaf pine seedlings.
Longleaf pines, which once covered an estimated 90 million acres, now cover less than 3 percent of their original range. STPAL is excited to bring this property back to life.
